Saber-toothed Tiger
The Smilodon, better known as saber-toothed tiger, was the largest-body cat of Patagonia similar to the largest tigers of today. It reached a weight of about 220 to 400 kg and had extremely long tusks in the form of curved daggers, which protruded about 10 cm out of its mouth.

It had powerful forelimbs and sharp claws. Different from other cats, it did not perform long chases after prey. Rather it probably preyed on mylodons, horses, and camels by using a hunting technique based on ambush. Its bones are rarely represented in the sites of the area.
